Back when I lived in San Francisco, when I would frequent Sonoma Valley wineries much more often than I get to do now, Gloria Ferrer was one of my favorite wineries that I would
visit (almost) each visit. In my opinion, it is the greatest place to either start or finish your Sonoma Valley wine tasting day.
Their tasting room provides beautiful wines and a beautiful patio overlooking a good portion of the Southern Sonoma Valley. The kind of place where you can go and just buy a glass of bubbles, sit outside in the warmth and munch on their delicious roasted almonds, and just appreciate life! Plus, they make really good bubbles! Not that I am partial, but that profile picture of mine was taken when I bought this particular bottle, on a recent trip there back in October 08, visiting with some friends on our last day of our 3 day tour. Pretty much, this is my perfect day… surrounded by good bubbles, good surroundings, and of course good people!
This is indeed a great sparkling wine, especially for the price point!
2001 Gloria Ferrer Royal Cuvee Brut
2/3rds Pinot Noir, 1/3rd Chardonnay this wine is toasty, buttery, with notes of crisp apple and pear. The body is crisp and refreshing with great long lasting bubbles. Deeee-lish!
