This “Kiwi 77″ Slushie takes the French 77 cocktail and gives it a refreshing twist by featuring Sauvignon Blanc in place of Champagne. The result? A cocktail that’s light, floral, and beautifully balanced, with tropical fruit notes that shine in slushie form. It’s the ultimate summer upgrade: sophisticated enough for entertaining, yet fun and casual enough for sipping poolside.

This Sauvignon Blanc slushie is a twist on the French 77 with all the flavors of the classic cocktail (and some slight modifications to make it a proper slushie). The French 77 is actually a twist on the classic French 75 cocktail, consisting of sparkling wine, St. Germain Elderflower liqueur, gin, and lemon juice.
So this is technically a twist on a twist if you will.
In our refreshing slushie version, we swap the sparkling wine with Sauvignon Blanc (hence “Kiwi”), and in order to make it slush properly in the Ninja Slushi machine, we had to adjust it with a few extra ingredients to create a slushed texture and balance.
Table of Contents
Kiwi 77 Sauvignon Blanc Slushie Ingredients
- White Wine – We recommend a bright white wine like Sauvignon Blanc. We used a Federalist Sauv Blanc because we love the tropical flavors.
- Gin – Gin adds more aromatics as well as alcohol. You don’t need anything fancy.
- St. Germain – This elderflower liquor is very specific to this drink. You can substitute with any floral liquor, but we tested and made this slushie with St. Germain and highly recommend it!
- Lemon Juice – Use freshly squeezed juice.
- Club Soda – This helps dilute the alcohol and keep it at the right alcohol percentage for a slushie machine without sacrificing the flavor.
- Simple Syrup – We use a basic simple syrup recipe in order to balance the sweetness ratios to get a proper slush texture.
In order to attain a proper slush texture, we had to stray from the original portions a bit; otherwise, the cocktail is too alcoholic to properly slush in the Ninja Slushi machine. We did this by adding some club soda to bring down the alcohol content, and some simple syrup to attain the right sugar levels.
How To Make Kiwi 77 Sauvignon Blanc Slushie
Alcohol-based slushies may take longer to become “slushified” than N/A sugar-based juices. Plan up to 30 minutes (versus 20) for the first batch to freeze properly. The portions in the recipe card are important to follow so you can have the correct ratio.
- Simple Syrup: Make simple syrup the day before, or hours before, to cool it down. In a small saucepan, combine 1 cup of water with 1 cup of sugar. Bring to a low simmer until the sugar dissolves. Then let cool and store in an airtight container in the fridge.
- Combine: Add all ingredients into a large pitcher and stir to combine.
- Pour the ingredients into the slushie machine and close the latch. Press the power button, then select the “SPIKED SLUSH” button, or whatever your manufacturer suggests for alcoholic slush drinks, to start the process. The machine will run and be set to the proper temperature.
- Wait: Allow the slushy machine to run for 20 – 30 minutes, and the mixture will freeze and become a slushie.
- Serve: Once it has reached the proper temperature, you can dispense the Slushie into your favorite glass and garnish with a lemon twist.

Important Slushie Tip
In order for the Kiwi 77 Sauvignon Blanc Slushie to slush properly, the alcohol level needs to be less than 15% ABV, and the sugar level over 4% total volume of sugar. The portions above bring the alcohol and sugar levels to the proper balance to freeze.
If your slushie is not properly freezing (or forming into a slush), you may need to adjust the sugar or dilute it with water. Consult your manufacturer’s instructions manual for more information.
